Bis in die 1960er Jahre war nichts Festes geplant, aber Universit\u00e4tspr\u00e4sident J. Roscoe Miller plante eine Bibliothek f\u00fcr die 1970er Jahre. Die Universit\u00e4t brauchte mehr Raum, weil man mehr B\u00fccher und Studenten hatte. Pr\u00e4sident Miller wollte, dass die Bibliothek das \u201cintellektuelle Kapitol\u201d des neuen Lakefills w\u00fcrde.<\/p>\n<p>Im Jahre 1962 plante ein Komitee, eine neue Bibliothek zu bauen. Der Chef des Komitees war Professor f\u00fcr Geschichte Clarence Ver Steeg, und er arbeitete mit Bibliothekar Jens Nyholm und anderen Lehrkr\u00e4ften zusammen. Sie wollten die Deering Bibliothek wiederbenutzen, und alle B\u00fccher in einem zentralen Ort haben. Das Geb\u00e4ude sollte auch zu anderen Geb\u00e4uden des Campus passen. Das Komitee hat Walter Netsch von der Firma Skidmore , Owings, und Merrill gew\u00e4hlt.<\/p>\n<p>Die Bibliothek besteht aus drei T\u00fcrmen. Jeder Turm hat f\u00fcnf St\u00f6cke. Auch wurde jeder Turm von einer Universit\u00e4tsfalkult\u00e4t benutzt. Die drei Universit\u00e4tsfalkut\u00e4ten sind Geschichte, Sozialwissenschaft, und Geisteswissenschaft. Alle T\u00fcrme und die Deering Bibliothek sind mit dem Keller verbunden. Im Zentrum jedes Turms gibt es Lernzonen und die B\u00fccher sind um sie. Der Stil hei\u00dft Brutalismus. Das Geb\u00e4ude ist aus Beton, Stahl, und Sandstein gemacht. Der Finanzplan war $10 Millionen, ader es kostete $12 zu bauen. Frank C. Engelhart, Grover M.
